Higher Education and the Marriage Market: Educational Attainment, Educational Homogamy, and Inequality

The purpose of this article is to examine if educational homogamy patterns are associated intergenerationally, the extent which today’s couples homogamous, and how translates into levels family income financial overall well-being. To these relationships, 28 years longitudinal data from British Columbia Paths on Life’s Way project employed. First, changes in marital status, completion, examined with goal defining constructs more precisely. Through descriptive statistics, relationship between attainment related respondents their parents established. Then, technique correspondence analysis used determine assortative mating nature inequality experienced by respondents. Findings reveal that its intergenerational associations exist it exacerbates terms levels, contributions registered investment plans, physical, mental, well-being sample. findings highlight value a post-secondary education relation marriage strategies, reproduction inequalities.
